My Horses
Forté III
1994 Canadian Sport Horse mare
Horses have always been a passion for me. I'm the city kid that was totally horse crazy. I started riding when I was 7 years old but never owned a horse until I was 32. Now I have 3 horses. I got my first horse, Forté III (a.k.a. Spike), in October 2005. Spike belonged to my best friend, who's focus shifted to her young family. I've known Spike since she was a glimmer in her mother's eye, so it's very special to own her now. She is unfortunately injured so that she can't be ridden any more, so her new job is being a mom. Spike will be 15 years old this May.

Willow
2004 Hanoverian/Tb mare
Since Spike wasn't sound for riding, I started looking at some options in order to get me back in the saddle. In August 2007, I purchased a young mare who's owner was going to send her to auction in Manitoba. Her owner wasn't able to work start training her due to his own injury, and didn't feel that he's have any luck selling her. I happened to be in the right place at the right time! Willow is turning out to be a very nice horse. Hopefully, I'll be able to do some more riding on her this summer and maybe get her into the show ring!
I am still researching Willow's pedigree. This has been a quest that I've been on since purchasing Willow in 2007. With a limited amount of information and thanks to online discussion forums, I have been in touch with a breeder in Germany that bred the stallion I suspect is Willow's sire. We have recently located the horse and so will be collecting DNA samples from him and Willow to make a comparison. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I have found Willow's papa!
Fiador's Forté
2008 Canadian Warmblood colt
Deciding to breed Spike has been a great experience and I ended up with a really nice colt as a result. On May 13th, 2008, Fiador's Forté (a.k.a Fore) was born sometime around 2 am. I found him in the pasture about 3 hours later! I was hoping for a girl, with white on her legs and face. I got a boy with no white at all! Go figure! But he's a real sweetheart and I think he'll be a nice riding horse when he grows up.
Oh, if you are wondering about the name "Fore"... It's because I'm not sure what he's for yet! I would like to have a dressage horse, but he might turn out to prefer jumping. So we'll see; he's bred for dressage but there's enough jumping talent in his pedigree to go that way too.
